3A/2A Conference 4 recap September 24, 2013

East Rutherford moved up to 196 from 230 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A/2A Conference 4. The Cavaliers climbed the ranks as a result of topping East Burke 35-28.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Burns beat Kings Mountain 20-15,. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bulldogs.

Shelby's dynamic duo of RJ George and Raekwon Wahington proved to be unstoppable against Chase, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. George threw for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns and Wahington had 81 yards receiving. Ralph Jolly helped Shelby's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 85 yards.

The Golden Lions' dynamic duo of George and Wahington proved tough for the Trojans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

He went 14-19 with 1 interception.

Brandon Bell was a passing and rushing force as the Mountaineers lost to Burns. He completed 13 passes for 139 yards and also ran for 147 yards. Bell's favorite target this week was Jake Merchant, who caught 5 passes for 61 yards.

George put up the best numbers through the air as Shelby bested Chase.

Bell was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Darian McClain added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

Wahington was the best receiver in 3A/2A Conference 4 this week as Lance Ware's team defeated Daniel Bailey's team.

Shelby's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Golden Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. George has thrown for 873 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Jolly has 17 catches for 413 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Kings Mountain takes on the Golden Lions. Greg Lloyd's team is in fifth place, while Shelby is in third place.

The league will see a high scoring game when the Mountaineers and the Golden Lions face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Kings Mountain comes in having scored 117 this season, while Shelby has scored 181. The Mountaineers scored 15 points last week as they fell to Matt Beam's team.

Crest led the league in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Roberson.
