Baseball Recap: Grossmont Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Grossmont and Granite Hills had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Foothillers came up short against the Eagles on Tuesday, falling 8-2. If the Foothillers were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grossmont got a good showing from Sean Chambers, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Chambers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colton Burke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

Grossmont's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Granite Hills, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0-2.

While Grossmont had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
