Baseball Recap: Bloomington Takes a Loss

Bloomington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Fayetteville Lions, falling 11-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Fayetteville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

For Fayetteville's part, Dylan Henneke made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Henneke a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Schley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Fayetteville is 2-1 when Schley posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kandon Kaspar, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Bloomington and Fayetteville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bobcats will face off against Schulenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (1275 vs. 290). Meanwhile, Fayetteville (ranked 1097th) will meet Tomball Kings (ranked 513th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
