Baseball Game Preview: Dos Pueblos Chargers vs. Ashland Grizzlies

The Dos Pueblos Chargers will square off against the Ashland Grizzlies at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Dos Pueblos is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Dos Pueblos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over San Marcos. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by exactly two runs.

Derek Brunet was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Brunet was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Zach Gesswein was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Ashland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand South Medford a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Grizzlies not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024.

Ashland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cobain Taylor, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Dos Pueblos' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ashland, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
