Recap: Jenkins Warriors vs. Statesboro Blue Devils
After flying high against the Islands Sharks on Friday, the Jenkins Warriors came back down to earth. Jenkins took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Statesboro on Saturday. Jenkins has struggled against Statesboro recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Jenkins still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah James, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The match was James' third in a row with at least ten points. Jordon Massey was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Statesboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dartavian (dj) Brown, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camdyn Wilkerson, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Jenkins now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Statesboro, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Jenkins will take on Groves in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Groves and Jenkins are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Statesboro and East Laurens will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Laurens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Statesboro is ranked 24th).
