Baseball Recap: Valders Vikings vs. New Holstein Huskies
Valders extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Holstein Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on Tuesday.

Jack Wendling was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases. Valders is 2-1 when Wendling posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Austin Starr, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for New Holstein, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Five seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On New Holstein's side, Hayden Jurgensmier was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Owen Jacobs also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Looking ahead, Valders will challenge Brillion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Holstein, they will take on St. Mary's Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
