Baseball Recap: Gleason Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gleason). Everything went their way against the Lake County Falcons on Tuesday as the Gleason Bulldogs made off with a 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Ty Keeling was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake Lehmkuhl, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Sanders, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Gleason always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gleason's win bumped their record up to 2-5-1. As for Lake County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gleason will host West Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fulton County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake County has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
