Baseball Game Preview: Burrillville Broncos vs. North Providence Cougars

The Burrillville Broncos are taking a road trip to challenge the North Providence Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Burrillville nor North Providence posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Burrillville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: West Warwick, who was ranked 13th at the time (Burrillville was ranked 12th). The Broncos fell just short of the Wizards by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, North Providence never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Narragansett 1-0.

Not much got past Vin Pontarelli, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Narragansett off the board.

On the hitting side, North Providence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Roman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

North Providence's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Burrillville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Burrillville was able to grind out a solid win over North Providence when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
