Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Largo Packers
After two games on the road, Academy of the Holy Names is heading back home. They will take on the Largo Packers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Academy of the Holy Names can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They blew past Tampa Prep 56-25 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Academy of the Holy Names has posted since December 19, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academy of the Holy Names to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucy Morey, who scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals. Morey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Morgan Hunt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Largo scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Pinellas Park with a sharp 64-39 win. The win was some much needed relief for Largo as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Academy of the Holy Names' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7. As for Largo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Academy of the Holy Names strolled past Largo when the teams last played back in November of 2014 by a score of 46-31. Does Academy of the Holy Names have another victory up their sleeve, or will Largo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
