Volleyball Recap: Charlotte Christian Starts off Right with Win over Wake Christian Academy

Charlotte Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Charlotte Christian's got stronger as the match went on, holding Wake Christian Academy to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-23, 25-19.

Charlotte Christian was led to victory by Holden Gore and Karis Blackson. Gore had 16 digs and seven assists, while Blackson had six aces and one assist. Gore has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last six times she's played.

They weren't the only good server: Charlotte Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wake Christian Academy only served seven aces.

Despite the loss, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evann Curry had 12 digs and three assists.

Wake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Charlotte Christian will challenge Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wake Christian Academy, they will take on Cary Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
