Basketball Recap: Marian Dabney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Milan over Green City

Milan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 60-45 to the Green City Gophers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Gophers are ranked 97th).

Milan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Marian Dabney, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Dabney is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amy Pickering, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

It was another big night for Jaryn Hatcher, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds for Green City. Macy Jeffries was another key player, going 9 for 21 en route to 20 points and five boards.

Milan's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Green City, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Milan has already played their next contest, a 58-44 victory against Trenton on the 21st. As for Green City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-47 defeat against Salisbury on the 20th.
