Basketball Recap: Yazoo County Takes a Loss

Yazoo County was the 54-46 winner over Callaway when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell 55-43 to the Chargers on Saturday.

Callaway had a senior duo take command as Layla Ba went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points along with six boards and three steals and Trinity Cook shot 50% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Ba has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: she's posted one of at least 46% every time she's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alisiah Cook, who posted five points and ten steals.

Yazoo County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Callaway, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Yazoo County will square off against Hartfield Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Callaway, they will take on Brandon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
