Baseball Recap: Philip Simmons Extends Winning Streak to Three

Philip Simmons waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the St. John's Islanders as they made off with a 7-1 victory. Considering the Iron Horses have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlie Helms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, Alex Romanski was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Philip Simmons is undefeated when Romanski posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Blake Johnson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Philip Simmons' record is now 3-4. As for St. John's, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Philip Simmons will be playing at home against Covenant Day at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Covenant Day's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Philip Simmons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. John's, they will take on Lowcountry Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
