Softball Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Tolleson Wolverines
Mesa had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it four. They came up short against the Tolleson Wolverines, falling 18-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jackrabbits of the 19-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.
Brooklyn Isom made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
As for Tolleson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Tolleson's side, they got a great performance from Lilliana Reyes as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Reyes a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Marina Lara was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rubi Canez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
As of now, neither Mesa nor Tolleson have any future games scheduled.
