Somonauk had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Marquette Crusaders. This was payback for the Bobcats, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Somonauk got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 24-26, 25-18.

Somonauk's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Marquette, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Somonauk and Marquette could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Bobcats (ranked 276th) will meet Newark (ranked 88th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Marquette will take on Henry-Senachwine at 5:00 p.m. on October 2 with a big rank disadvantage (352 vs. 131).
