Softball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Westside Rams. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in March of 2016.

As for Westside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.

For Westside's part, Jordan Kirkus was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Kirkus a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Westside beat Emerald by a score of 19-0 on Thursday.
