Recap: Shoals Christian Flame vs. Cherokee Indians
The Shoals Christian Flame posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They really took it to Cherokee for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-13 victory at home. Given Shoals Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Cherokee is ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sarah Davis (2025) was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Shoals Christian's points. Kathryn Husiany was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Shoals Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Cherokee, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shoals Christian will square off against Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Waterloo at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th.
