Softball Game Preview: Johnston City Indians vs. Carmi-White County Bulldogs

The Johnston City Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Carmi-White County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Johnston City is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

On Saturday, Johnston City needed a bit of extra time to put away Mater Dei. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Knights.

The team relied heavily on Lilli Armes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Zoee Cullum was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Carmi-White County couldn't beat Fairfield on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Mules by a score of 7-6.

Mia Evans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alayna Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Carmi-White County now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Johnston City, their record is now 11-9.

Johnston City couldn't quite get it done against Carmi-White County in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 as they fell 5-0. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
