Preview: Discovery Titans vs. North Gwinnett Bulldogs
Discovery is 0-5 against North Gwinnett since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Discovery Titans will look to defend their home field against the North Gwinnett Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Discovery is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
Discovery fell victim to Peachtree Ridge's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, Discovery can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Peachtree Ridge is ranked 47th).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, North Gwinnett's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell 27-17 to Peachtree Ridge.
North Gwinnett's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ryan Hall, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Discovery's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.2 points per game. As for North Gwinnett, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Discovery was dealt a bruising 45-8 defeat at the hands of North Gwinnett when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Discovery have more luck at home instead of on the road?
