Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crown Point). Everything went their way against the Merrillville Pirates on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Merrillville's batters probably weren't too happy with Paige Liezert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Liezert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hayden Brock was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Witte, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Crown Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.
Crown Point's record is now 13-2. As for Merrillville, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Crown Point has already played their next contest (against Andrean), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Merrillville, they will challenge Hammond Morton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
