Baseball Game Preview: East Leopards vs. Highland Rams

For the second straight game, East will face off against Highland. The Leopards will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East has four straight wins, Highland has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, East got the win against Highland by a conclusive 15-3. That looming 15-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Leopards yet this season.

Logan Lunt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for East: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cannon Lunt was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beckham Christensen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

East pushed their record up to 4-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
