Basketball Recap: Potomac Falls Finds Playoff Glory Versus Briar Woods

With a playoff win on the line, Potomac Falls rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Briar Woods Falcons by a score of 57-49. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Falcons two weeks ago, they had to take a 58-48 loss.

Troy Hooper was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Josh Orbida was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Briar Woods' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Winklosky, who had seven points and five boards. Winklosky is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Finn Gardner, who scored ten points and five rebounds.

Potomac Falls has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season. Briar Woods' loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Potomac Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-60 defeat against Riverside on the 21st. As for Briar Woods, they will face off against Potomac Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Briar Woods is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.
