Softball Game Preview: Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines vs. Friendship Golden Eagles

The Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines will face off against the Friendship Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bolivar-Richburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Bolivar-Richburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Hinsdale Central get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Monday. With that victory, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Kylee Whiting was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bolivar-Richburg got a massive performance out of Sydney Faulkner, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Faulkner posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Whiting, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bolivar-Richburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Friendship had taken Genesee Valley down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Golden Eagles lost 11-1 to the Jaguars. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bolivar-Richburg's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Friendship, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Bolivar-Richburg took their victory against Friendship in their previous matchup on Saturday by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
