Recap: Freire Charter Dragon vs. Penn Treaty
The Freire Charter Dragon waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They skirted past Penn Treaty 44-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Freire Charter has posted yet this season.
Freire Charter found their leader in underclassman Ibrahim Mahmoud, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Jahmir Williams, who scored six points.
Penn Treaty's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keyon Davis, who scored 12 points. Jeremiah Hagan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Freire Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Penn Treaty, they bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Freire Charter will take on Liguori Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Penn Treaty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin Towne at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday. Franklin Towne presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Penn Treaty in Pennsylvania (Franklin Towne is ranked 308th, while Penn Treaty is ranked 642nd).
