Basketball Recap: Tacorius Reed's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcintosh over Excel

On Monday, the McIntosh Demons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to the Excel Panthers. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McIntosh lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being TaCorius Reed, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grant Horn, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, McIntosh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

McIntosh's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Excel, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

McIntosh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-37 victory against Washington County on the 13th. As for Excel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 73-46 loss against Hillcrest on the 10th.
