Basketball Recap: Owen Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Hannah Bixler and Aubrey Sparks

Owen Valley lost against Bloomington North back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Owen Valley Patriots came up short against the Bloomington North Cougars, falling 53-31.

Aubrey Sparks and Hannah Bixler certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sparks dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards, while Bixler posted nine points. Sparks' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Bloomington North found their leader in freshman Katharine Lehr, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Lehr also set a new season-high mark in steals with eight. Another player making a difference was Rilynn Williams, who put up 14 points.

Owen Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Bloomington North, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen Valley will take on Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Owen Valley is facing Brown County at the right time seeing as Brown County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Bloomington North, they will face off against Mooresville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
