Basketball Recap: Valley Center Hornets vs. Arkansas City Bulldogs
Valley Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arkansas City Bulldogs. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
Arkansas City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Saliyah Henderson-Johnson out in front who posted nine points along with eight boards and five assists. Henderson-Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Phillips, who had 14 points.
Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Arkansas City, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Valley Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Arkansas City, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Eisenhower at 6:00 p.m.
