Softball Game Preview: MacArthur Brahmas vs. Southwest Dragons

The MacArthur Brahmas will take on the Southwest Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

MacArthur took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against McCollum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Brahmas had just enough and edged out the Cowboys 5-4 on Tuesday.

Kaylin Salazar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katelin Keller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Arianna Ruiz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Southwest's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of South San Antonio by a score of 6-5.

MacArthur's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Southwest, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 13-8.
