Football Game Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. Alhambra Lions

The Youngker Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Alhambra Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Youngker has six straight victories, Alhambra has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Youngker will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Moon Valley, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Roughriders took down the Rockets 28-14 on Friday.

Youngker can attribute much of their success to Isaiah Hargrove, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns, and Jeremiah Garcia, who rushed for 50 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing touchdowns Hargrove has posted since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Youngker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Youngker's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Ar-Razzaq Animashhaun refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Alhambra took a blow against Lake Havasu on Friday, falling 63-7. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Knights are ranked 86th).

Youngker's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
