Baseball Recap: Atascadero Has No Trouble Against Morro Bay

Atascadero barely beat Morro Bay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greyhounds blew past the Pirates 11-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Damon Mitchell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Atascadero is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Zach Savino was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Atascadero is undefeated when Savino posts three or more RBI, but 8-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Uly Kaul, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Atascadero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Atascadero's record now sits at 11-12. As for Morro Bay, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Atascadero beat the Pirates by a score of 6-4 on Thursday.
