Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Catholic Eagles vs. Sacred Heart Indians

The St. Joseph Catholic Eagles will challenge the Sacred Heart Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Joseph Catholic barely beat Allen Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory two weeks ago. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The team relied heavily on Lucas Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Colt Bundick, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

St. Joseph Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Wolverines.

Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 40-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph Catholic, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

St. Joseph Catholic suffered a grim 36-0 defeat to Sacred Heart in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
