Softball Recap: Franklin Central Takes Down Ranked Hamilton Southeastern

Franklin Central faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Flashes came out on top against the Royals by a score of 6-1. For the Flashes, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Royals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Kiley Renick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Renick wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Franklin Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 13-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin Central and bumps their season record up to 17-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Hamilton Southeastern, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.

Franklin Central and Hamilton Southeastern are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Flashes will face off against Mooresville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Franklin Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
