Centaurus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Longmont Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 48-38 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Centaurus lost, don't look at Nick Jones. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jt Falzone, who posted six points and five assists.

Longmont found their leader in sophomore Ty Gaddis, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine blocks. Those nine blocks set a new season-high mark for Gaddis. Another player making a difference was Rhys Odom, who had eight points and three steals.

Centaurus' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Longmont, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Centaurus will head out to square off against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Longmont, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Standley Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Longmont is on a four-game streak of home wins, Standley Lake a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
