Huntington hadn't done well against Greenbrier East recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Highlanders had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Highlanders also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2021.

Huntington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 15-11.

Huntington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14-2 record this season. As for Greenbrier East, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-13-5.

Coincidentally, Huntington and Greenbrier East will both be playing Cabell Midland the next time they take the court. The Spartans will head out to face the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Highlanders will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
