Softball Recap: Palmetto Scholars Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Stall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palmetto Scholars Academy). They were the clear victors by a 26-8 margin over the Stall Warriors on Wednesday. The Phoenix might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 13 runs or more this season.

Palmetto Scholars Academy got a massive performance out of Lexi Lubbehusen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Alivia Willen was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Palmetto Scholars Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Palmetto Scholars Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.5 runs over those games. As for Stall, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmetto Scholars Academy will square off against Lowcountry Leadership at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowcountry Leadership has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something Palmetto Scholars Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Stall, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fort Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on April 7.
