Baseball Game Preview: Amelia County Raiders vs. Randolph-Henry Statesmen

Amelia County hasn't had much luck against Randolph-Henry recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Raiders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Statesmen at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Amelia County barely beat Cumberland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Dukes on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Meanwhile, while Randolph-Henry put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Prince Edward County. The Statesmen blew past the Eagles 11-0. The Statesmen have beaten the Eagles the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Randolph-Henry's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Amelia County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Amelia County couldn't quite get it done against Randolph-Henry in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
