Softball Game Preview: Wickenburg Wranglers vs. Mountainside Wolves

The Wickenburg Wranglers will head out on the road to square off against the Mountainside Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountainside took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wickenburg, who comes in off a win.

Wickenburg came out on top against Glendale Prep Academy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Wranglers took their game against the Griffins 10-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wranglers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Maleigh Colvin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ariel Sprecher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Melfi, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Mountainside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 20-5 to Salome.

Mountainside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Wickenburg, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
