Softball Game Preview: Olentangy Orange Pioneers vs. Olentangy Liberty Patriots

The Olentangy Orange Pioneers will venture away from home to square off against the Olentangy Liberty Patriots at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Olentangy Orange's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Olentangy Liberty's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Olentangy Orange is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Hilliard Bradley on Thursday. They fell 5-0 to the Jaguars. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Olentangy Liberty entered their tilt with Whitmer on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Panthers 12-2. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Olentangy Liberty's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Olentangy Orange, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Olentangy Orange came out on top in a nail-biter against Olentangy Liberty in their previous meeting last Wednesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
