Basketball Game Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Stockdale Brahmas

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs will square off against the Stockdale Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Nixon-Smiley came up into this matchup off a tough 25-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Goliad by a score of 41-39 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since January 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Stockdale didn't have quite enough to beat Luling on Tuesday and fell 40-37.

Stockdale has also been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 19 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for Nixon-Smiley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-17.

Nixon-Smiley came up short against Stockdale in their previous matchup back in January, falling 44-36. Can Nixon-Smiley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
