Softball Recap: West Shamokin Wolves vs. Penns Manor Comets
West Shamokin waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Penns Manor Comets as they made off with an 18-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Avery Elkin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Keirn, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Vandervort, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

West Shamokin pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
