Football Recap: Midland Legacy Piles Up the Points Against Odessa

Midland Legacy not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 14, 2024 (when they won 56-14). They breezed past the Odessa Bronchos to the tune of 58-28. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-7.

It was another big night for Hayes Hamm, who rushed for 124 yards and three scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 101.4 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of JP Reyes, who threw for 199 yards and one touchdown on only 15 passes.

Midland Legacy's run defense was locked in: Odessa could only muster 0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank David Ihediwa for the heroic effort on defense: he. Midland Legacy's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.81 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.4 on average over their last five games.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Midland Legacy, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ja'Braylen Anders, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Defeat or not, Odessa got some senior leadership from Andrew Rodriguez and Aramis 'Bo' Rodriguez. Andrew picked up 160 receiving yards and one TD, while Aramis 'Bo' picked up 115 receiving yards and one score. Andrew showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 62 yards.

The win got Midland Legacy back to even at 5-5. As for Odessa, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Midland Legacy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 62-42 victory against Franklin on the 14th. Odessa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
