Basketball Recap: Berkeley Prep Buccaneers vs. Shorecrest Prep Chargers

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 41-13 win over Shorecrest Prep on the road. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.

Berkeley Prep found their leader in underclassman Olivia Alvarodiaz, who scored 13 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alvarodiaz has scored all season. Maddie Dean was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Berkeley Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Shorecrest Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Berkeley Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wesley Chapel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Buccaneers in Florida (the Wildcats are ranked 145th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 418th). As for Shorecrest Prep, they will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northeast has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
