Softball Recap: Lunenburg Find Success

Lunenburg won the last time they faced Oakmont Regional and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Blue Knights came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2.

Maegan Martell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylee Guimond, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Leah Harrington, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lunenburg now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Oakmont Regional, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lunenburg will challenge Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Oakmont Regional, they will take on Quabbin Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
