Missouri quarterback Alex Huston becomes fastest to throw for 10,000 yards

Hard to believe, but when Alex Huston threw for 486 yards Friday in a 63-35 win over Camdenton, it actually hurt his career per-game average.

But that's the type of career that the Glendale (Springfield, Mo.) quarterback has had in his two years throwing in the offensive system under coach Mike Mauk.

With his 486-yard effort, Huston became the quickest quarterback to throw for 10,000 yards in a career, doing so in just 20 games. Not even Mauk's own sons, Ben and Maty, had such prolific numbers and they rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation in all-time passing yardage.

With Friday's performance, Huston has 10,100 career yards for a 505-yard per game average. The national record, according to the National Federation of High Schools record book, is 436 yards per game by Ben Mauk while at Kenton (Ohio). Huston began his high school career at Kenton as a freshman before transferring to Glendale. According to research by MaxPreps, Huston becomes the 121st high school quarterback to throw for 10,000 career yards. The previous quickest quarterback to 10,000 career passing yards was Jake Browning of Folsom (Calif.), who turned the trick in 27 games.



Huston, who went 34 of 46 against Camdenton with seven touchdowns, leads the nation in passing yardage with 4,496 yards, and touchdowns with 56.
