Basketball Recap: Cornell Comes Up Short

After flying high against Winter last Friday, Cornell came back down to earth. The Cornell Chiefs took a blow against the Gilman Pirates on Monday, falling 73-34. The Chiefs lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-44 score last time.

Cornell's loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Gilman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-4.

Cornell will host Thorp at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilman, they will head out to take on Rib Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Rib Lake has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three matchups.
