Baseball Recap: Brookfield Drops Season-High Score on Northwestern

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Brookfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Northwestern Eagles 11-10. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Trayce Switzer and Riley Hinckle did most of the damage at the plate: Switzer went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Hinckle went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave Hinckle a new career-high. Ryder Techau was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brookfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Brookfield's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-11 record. As for Northwestern, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield will welcome Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwestern, they will host South Shelby at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
