Basketball Recap: North Miami Takes a Loss

North Miami lost against Wabash back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The North Miami Warriors took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wabash Apaches.

When it comes to explaining why North Miami lost, don't look at Kayden Donaldson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. Those 31 points gave Donaldson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Sailors, who posted seven points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, North Miami smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive matches.

Wabash had a senior duo take command as Brookelyn Buzzard scored 21 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals and Anna Daughtry almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. The game was Buzzard's third in a row with at least ten points. Kaitlynn Honeycutt was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

North Miami has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Wabash, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. North Miami has already played their next game (against Southern Wells), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wabash will square off against Oak Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wabash will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
