Basketball Recap: West Brunswick Takes a Loss

West Brunswick has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 52-40 to the Laney Buccaneers on Friday. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Buccaneers from their previous meeting back in January.

Despite the loss, West Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Matthew McKenney, who shot 55% from the field en route to 14 points and six boards. McKenney has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Isaac Clarida was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colin Lamb, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Emery Brown, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 14 points.

West Brunswick's record now sits at 6-3. As for Laney, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

West Brunswick will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on the 27th. Laney will take on Westover in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
