Recap: Lawrenceburg Tigers vs. Beech Grove Hornets
On Saturday, Lawrenceburg slipped by Beech Grove 49-48. Given Lawrenceburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Beech Grove is ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lawrenceburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Knigga led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Bobo, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Beech Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jarron Murry jr.. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Murry jr. hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Tyris Reid was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lawrenceburg and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for Beech Grove, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Lawrenceburg will head out on the road to face off against Rising Sun at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beech Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 7:30 p.m.
