Preview: Bassett vs. Byrd
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Byrd. On Friday they take on Bassett at William Byrd High School at 7:00 PM. Byrd will be looking to build upon the 45-10 win they picked up against Bassett the last time they played.
Byrd was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They made easy work of Hidden Valley last week and carried off a 45-21 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.
Meanwhile, Bassett were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 20-24 to Dan River.
Byrd's win lifted them to 2-0 while Bassett's loss dropped them down to 0-2. We'll see if Byrd's success rolls on or if Bassett are able to steal their positive momentum.
